Cilantro Lime Jalapeño Dressing (GF and DF!)

If you’re a salad lover, you know that the right dressing can take your greens from bland to delicious! However, not all dressings are created equal, and most store-bought options are packed with unhealthy ingredients (and honestly don’t taste great!). That’s where this cilantro lime jalapeño dressing comes in–it’s a healthy, homemade option that’s gluten-free, dairy-free, and only 85 calories per serving! Need I say more?

Healthy Ingredients

This dressing is perfect for those who love tangy flavors but don’t want too much spice. The jalapeño adds a subtle smoky flavor, but by removing the seeds there’s little-to-no heat. The cilantro and lime give the dressing a fresh, vibrant taste that pairs well with a variety of greens. Garlic pairs perfectly with these flavors, and the salt and pepper enhances all of the other flavors as well. The olive oil mayonnaise is a healthier spin on typical mayonnaise and adds some creaminess to the dressing without the dairy!

The BEST part is that this dressing takes only 5 minutes to make, so you can have a healthy, flavorful meal in no time! Plus, by making your own dressing, you can control the ingredients and avoid any unhealthy added ingredients. Store-bought dressings usually have TONS of preservatives. And though store-bought dressings last longer, the added preservatives don’t taste great. I personally think the 5 minutes it takes to make homemade dressing is worth it for the fresh, delicious taste! Plus, homemade dressing almost always has less calories.

So, if you’re looking for a delicious, healthy dressing to add TONS of flavor to your homemade salads, try making this cilantro lime jalapeno dressing! If you’re looking for a salad to pair it with, try my Loaded Chicken Bacon Avocado Salad–they’re perfect together!

Prep time

  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and chopped

  • 1 lime

  • 1 cup roughly chopped cilantro (thicker stems removed)

  • 2 tsp minced garlic

  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1/2 cup olive oil mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp granulated sugar* (optional)

  • Add jalapeño, lime juice, cilantro, garlic, salt, pepper, and mayo to a blender, and blend on high until smooth.
  • If it’s too bitter, you can add the additional sugar and continue to blend–it depends on your personal preference!
  • Add to your favorite salad and enjoy!

  • *Only add the sugar if you feel like it’s necessary–sometimes these flavors are a slightly bitter and need some sweetness to balance them out!
